Walters-Magee Scholarship

Eligibility

• Must be a graduating senior from a Kansas City metro-area high school;
• Must be an active member of a Christian church;
• Must have demonstrated financial need;
• Must have community service experience;
• Must have a solid "C" (2.0) or higher cumulative high school GPA;
• Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in education or psychology at any accredited junior college, college or university.

Award Amount

Up to $5,000 per academic year.

Renewable

Yes, this scholarship can be renewed for three additional years of funding. A renewal application must be submitted with proof of continuing college enrollment and a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.0.

Deadline

The General Application for the 2026-2027 cycle will be available December 1, 2025 and due February 16, 2026 (including any requirements listed below).

Requirements

• Transcripts showing grades through Fall Semester 2025. Any applications submitted with transcripts omitting Fall Semester 2025 will not be considered.
• Church affiliation including: Name of church you attend and mailing address, Pastor's name and contact information.
• Personal essay of approximately 500 words addressing your faith, how it has influenced your career plans, and how you believe your career will make the world better.
• Personal reference from your pastor.
• Personal reference from a coach, family friend, or someone you believe can speak to your character best.
• Another personal reference, if you choose.
